Food in Bangkok

Bangkok is a food and alcohol haven.

This day is rather unusual as such no alcohol is served due to religious reasons.

I decide to venture off to Seafood Market Restaurant at Soi 24. It is a one train stop from Asoke and 10 minutes walk.

I have read mix review of this place.

I was amazed at the size of the restaurant. I thought that there are live tanks of seafood for selection. Instead, I found a row of seafood like from a supermarket. There are no tanks of live seafood. It is disappointing.

The restaurant is not full. The waitress seated us towards one end of the restaurant.

The restaurant has an interesting way for charging. The seafood has to be paid separately from the cooking style. Each cooking style has a separate charge.

Walking towards the selection of seafood. There is a wide range of seafood. The seafood is priced pretty expensive. Most of the visitors are tourists.

I picked a basket of seafood. Oysters, fish, king prawns and crab. It is slightly more than USD$100. I was taken off guard by the cost of the seafood.

Oysters are cool and delicious. Tasted very fresh with a dash of lime.

Charcoal barbecue king prawns. It felt it is overcooked. The meat is quite tough. Perhaps, it has been frozen for some time.

Chill crab. It is different from the famous Singapore chill crab. The crab is not large. It is medium size.  The chill is not spicy. The flesh of the crab is flavourful. It is soft and fluffy.

Charcoal grilled halibut. It is plain. Does not taste nice. Very flat.

Another view of the restaurant from the table.

The following morning after a heavy meal. I decided to go for a light porridge. It is smooth and tasty.

Mango is offered this time.  I combined dim sum with mango. Yummy.

Dinner at the silver kris lounge in Bangkok. This is a new lounge. It is slightly larger than the old lounge. I tried the famous pad Thai noddles with slices of pork.

Tried some dim sum with oneh oneh. It is rather small. I wish the coconut shavings are finer.
Lao mai kai. Glutinous chicken rice, carrot cake and siew mai. I added a generous dash of chilly.
