CNY 2019
The Chinese Zodiac Year of the pig is upon us in 2019. Chinese new year falls on the 5th Feb.
It is pretty close the start of the new year where XMAS is just over.
We can see Chinese New Year ornaments replacing XMAS ornaments.
In Pavilion KL, Malaysia, the XMAS building decoration has been removed. It appears MayBank has replaced Huawei to be the sponsor of the decorations instead.

From the main entrance of the mall, a string of red lanterns greet the visitor. It is crowded.
Since, it is few weeks before CNY, I decided to walk a stroll along Chinatown in KL. Petaling street.
It is convenient to reach there via the MRT. The station is Pasar Seni. It is a station away from KL Sentral.
Once, I step out from the MRT, I can see a shop selling CNY decorations.
There are lots of red lanterns. I realise it is popular in Malaysia given that most Chinese lives in landed property. They can hang these lanterns outside and inside their houses.
Since, it is close to Chinese new year , you can find shops selling traditional delicacies.
Crate &Barrel changed their XMAS gift box into a CNY window display. A number of Orchard XMAS decorations on the buildings have transformed into the spring festival

A season of love. CNY is close to Valentine's Day on the 14th February.

No Chinese new year festive mood is complete with a visit to chinatown. This year the chinatown is decorated with red and orange lanterns.

There appears to be a reduction of waxes meat stalls in chinatown. This delicacy can now be found in most supermarkets.
Since, it is the year of the PIG, there are pig ornaments being sold in the stall among the traditional CNY banners of wealth, healthy and prosperity.

I visited Jurong Point for the first time. Outside the building has a beautiful CNY structure of the zodiac animals.
A temple along Sterling road has put up a series of red lanterns to welcome the lunar new year.
Walking towards the immigration from Changi airport terminal 2, a garden of chinese new year plants and flowers greeted the visitors in the year of the Pig.
I decided to have another walk along chinatown. This time is starting from the opposite end of the town. I started from the Chinatown Point.
They have a bazaar outside the mall. It is inside a aircon tent. The stall is selling Pomelo and traditional goodies.
Peanuts is a common delicacy during chinese new year. There are many flavours to choose from.

I was intrigued and have a closer look.
Decided to walk into the shop. There is a number of customers. There are many selection of ornaments, It is similar to XMAS except the trinkets are mainly red and gold in colour.
I was making a mental comparison of the prices here vs Singapore. I think it is similar. Here may have more variety especially the large ornaments.
After the shop, it is Petaling street. It is not closed to vehicular traffic. One needs to be aware and careful. There are lots of small shops flanking the street.

You can notice that there is a glass ceiling built along the street. It helps to prevent rain and heat. It is very nice. Red lanterns are hung along the street.

A walk down Centrepoint. The golden XMAS pillars are now don with cherry blossoms and pink lanterns. It is an inexpensive to transform the festive mood.
Across the street is Orchard Central. The pink CNY theme is part of the refreshed deco from XMAS.

I walk into the crowded lanes of chinatown. It early and it is filled with people. Fortunately, the weather is cloudy. It makes walking a breeze.
