Amoy Food
Food is a passion for me. Hawker food is a dying bred in Singapore. Especially affordable food for many office workers in the most expensive city in the world.
Amoy Hawker centre has been around for ages. I wanted to pen down some pictures of the meals that I have before it is gone.
The bak chor mee is springy. There is pig liver with a tasty soup.
Khay Chuap.they have a wide range of pig's organs. Portions are quite generous. The sauce is quite nice but too salty for my taste.
Thai food is available in this hawker centre. Sap Thai. they have quite a wide range of dishes that they cook on the spot. there is a single cook though It takes time. I like they accept Grab Pay.
I ordered the minced chicken mama noodles spicy version. I think the noodles is sloggy and not spicy enough. Could be the rush to get the dish out.
Nonya food dishes. ordered fried chicken. They have several choices.
the chicken is crispy. the curry is nice though not spicy. I tooks two helps of the sambal chilli. Lack punch...
There is a Vietnamese stall called Pho Hanoi
They serve the typical Vietnamese fare. I tried the grilled pork rice noodles. There is a huge portion of grilled pork. It is tasty. Next time, I would like to try other dishes.
The queue is not long as compared as other popular stalls. I ordered chicken wing, fillet and ikan bills. The chilli is not spicy but sweet. The rice is fluffy but lack the coconut taste. The chicken wing is nice.
I had pork porridge over the weekend due to the haze. I wanted to try it again in this hawker centre.
There are many choices of congee, but I ordered the mixed pork version. I see that many chooses the fish version. They have a generous amount of pork and yew tiao. The porridge is yummy. I am quite happy with it. Perhaps, I will try the fish version next time.
The rice has a pandan coloring. It is different from the other stall. I prefer their peanuts and ikan billis as it is unsweeten. The chilli is quite salty.
The friend chicken chop is crispy. The portion is bigger than the other stall. Overall, I prefer this and can understand the long queue. The fried egg is well done in a runny yolk fashion.
There is another porridge stall on the 2nd level. They start their porride at 2.5 for for pork porridge and 3 for fish porridge. It is affordable and cheaper than the stall on the first level.
This is the fish porridge. They use Bantang fish instead of the traditional snapper. It is not bad. The meat is stiffer and less chunky. The porridge is smooth. generous amount of yao tao.
Pork porridge is nice with slices of liver. I like their combination of meat. The meat ball has a nice consistency.
The dry chilli ban main taste salty and flat. There are several good reviews for this stall. Maybe I have chosen the wrong dish.
there is several fish soup stalls. This is very popular. the queue is long.
The fish is tender and chunky. The soup is delicious. The rice is also well cook.
I have waited some time to try this Michellin Star. It is not cheap. The small is at $8, while medium is at $11. This is a noddle story. Queue starts at 11am.
It shows mulitple awards and a description of what you are getting.
There is only one type of dish with various sizes. The noodle is not over cook. It retains the texture like the hong kong noodles. Thin and springy. The molten egg is delicious. The wanton is huge. The fried sprimp can be shallowed at one go. The pork belly melts in your mouth. No wonder it is awarded a Michellin award. The chilly is not spicy but gives a dimension to the noodles. The portion is indeed small.
